Sanofi
Ilan Wapinski is the Head of Digital In-Silico Research, where he leads the development and implementation of AI-driven computational approaches to transform drug discovery and translational research. His work focuses on leveraging digital technologies to enhance target discovery, biomarker development, and laboratory workflows across therapeutic areas and CMC.
Ilan received his PhD from Harvard University, where he developed novel computational methods for analyzing genomics data at the Broad Institute. His research provided key insights into the evolution of gene regulatory networks and genomic adaptation across organisms. He later continued his work as a Fellow in the Department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School, where he applied high-throughput experimental and automation techniques to biological discovery.
Prior to joining Sanofi, Ilan was Vice President of Translational Research at PathAI, where he established and led a multidisciplinary team integrating AI-powered pathology with biomarker discovery and clinical development. His teams worked at the intersection of computational biology, machine learning, and translational science to improve disease characterization, enhance clinical trial endpoints, and develop novel diagnostic tools. Ilan joined Sanofi’s PMCB organization as Head of Biomarkers and Patient Stratification in 2023, where his team lead efforts to identify disease subpopulations for optimizing precision medicine by integrating AI-powered analytics with multi-omics data to drive insights into disease heterogeneity and treatment response.
