Hao Jin, Ph.D., Tenure-track investigator, NIAID/NIH
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. I performed my graduate thesis work in the lab of Dr. Zilong Wen at the National University of Singapore, focusing on the developmental biology of blood stem and immune cells. Drawn by the potential of applying genetic approaches to dissect sensory neural circuits, I then joined Dr. Charles Zuker’s lab at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Columbia University for my postdoctoral work, where I transitioned to study how innate taste responses are encoded and modulated in the brain. In 2022, I began my current position as a tenure-track investigator in the Laboratory of Host Immunity and Microbiome (LHIM) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH. My research at NIAID intersects neuroscience with immunology, employing an integrative, multimodal approach to explore how the nervous system fits into the complex, whole-body regulation of inflammation and immunity.
